What drives me

Why the organ
of all instruments.

The organ has an image problem. It is thought of as solemn, a little heavy, a little of yesterday. Yet it is the most versatile instrument ever built — a whole orchestra under two hands and two feet. You simply have to give it different notes to play.

When a couple asks for their song and I find there is no score for it, I sit down and write one. That is the part of the work nobody sees — and the part that makes the difference when the church door opens.

Background

  1. From the age of six

    First the piano, then the organ

    Piano lessons from six, the organ not long after. Still at school I was already accompanying services at the Trinitatis parish on the Erft — and I have not stopped since.

  2. Training

    Protestant church music in Cologne

    I study at the University of Music and Dance Cologne. Repertoire, liturgy, improvisation — the grounding that makes a pop song on the organ sound like an organ rather than a piano with reverb.

  3. Since June 2026

    Church musician at the Begegnungsgemeinde

    A full-time post at the Begegnungsgemeinde in Cologne: choir direction, Sundays, weddings, funerals, festival services, anniversaries — the whole church year, week after week.

From village church to cathedral

Weddings in Regensburg and Altenberg cathedrals, a historic organ in Kiedrich, and village and town churches besides — baroque to modern, delicate to overwhelming.

Own music

Three albums of original music

More than thirty pieces of my own, nearly all for piano: calm, melodic, closer to Ludovico Einaudi than to the organ repertoire. The best known album is “Future”, released in November 2024.
